How it fits in

Your allmän pension (public pension) takes 18.5% of your pensionable income each year. Of that, 16% goes to inkomstpension, a notional account the state manages, and 2.5% goes to premiepension, the only slice you invest yourself. It is a small share, but over a full career the fund choice and its fees compound into a meaningful difference.

The AP7 Såfa default

If you never make an active choice, your premiepension sits in AP7 Såfa, the state default fund. Unusually for a default, it is genuinely good: a low-fee global fund that automatically lowers risk as you approach retirement. You can move to your own fund selection at any time, but there is no penalty for staying in Såfa.

Good to know

Premiepension is separate from your tjänstepension (occupational pension) and your private savings. On minPension.se it is shown inside the allmän pension figure, not on its own.
