Two What-Ifs
The Difference
Understanding Scenarios
What is a scenario comparison?
It puts two what-if scenarios head to head – for example saving 5 000 kr/mo vs 7 000 kr/mo – so you can see exactly how big the difference becomes in final value, contributions, and growth.
What questions can it answer?
Save more vs less, high vs low return, ISK vs taxable depå, or longer vs shorter horizon (e.g. retire at 50 vs 52). Change one factor at a time to isolate its effect.
How is the difference calculated?
Both scenarios use the same compound-interest model as the savings calculator, with monthly contributions and annual compounding. ISK is charged schablon tax (~1.07%/yr above 300 000 kr); a depå is charged 30% capital-gains tax on the final gain.
What return should I assume?
A common planning assumption is 7% nominal per year for a broad global equity index fund, or about 5% real after inflation. Historically Swedish equities (SIXRX) returned 10–11% nominal since 1970, but 7% is cautious and reasonable.
Are the amounts in today's money?
Amounts are shown nominal (not inflation-adjusted). Since both scenarios are affected equally by inflation, the difference between them is still fair. For real values, subtract about 2% from the return in both.
Why does ISK often beat a depå?
ISK has a low annual schablon tax (~1.07% effective in 2026) and the first 300 000 kr is tax-free, while a depå is taxed 30% on the whole gain. At high return and long horizons ISK almost always wins. See ISK vs pension.
Can I compare more than two?
It compares two at a time, which keeps the difference clear. To check a third, note the result and swap one scenario. The Copy A → B button lets you start from the same baseline and change one factor.
